CEDEPESCA’S ANALYSIS Joining community efforts to achieve hake recovery
The recently adopted Resolution No. 65/2007 which, following the resource crisis, imposes new restrictions on common hake catch, will have a severe impact on both the quality of life of thousands of workers in fishing communities and the stability of dozens of small and medium-sized businesses. Despite this, however, the resolution will not be able to guarantee the recovery of the resource within a reasonable time period and no measures are planned to lessen the negative socioeconomic consequences.
